Stan Ryan , Corporate Vice President , Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain Worldwide

Stan Ryan has served as a corporate vice-president of Cargill’s agricultural supply-chain businesses since January 2011. He is also a member of the company’s global corporate-centre leadership team. Located in Shanghai, Mr Ryan is focused on growing Cargill’s business operations in Asia and its agriculture-based supply-chain businesses globally, in addition to other corporate functional responsibilities.

He joined the company in 1989 at Cargill’s global headquarters in Minneapolis, US, as an analyst in the strategy and business-development department and was later promoted to general manager of Cargill’s oilseed operations in Sydney, Ohio. In September 1995, Mr Ryan was appointed the general manager of the company’s Venezuela refined-oils business, stationed in Caracas. He subsequently became the general manager of Cargill’s Brazil refined-oils business unit in 1998 and resided in Sao Paulo.

He was transferred back to Minneapolis in 1999 to serve as president of the dressings, sauces and oils, North America, business. From June 2006 to February 2010, he was the managing director of refined oils Europe, based out of Schiedam, The Netherlands. For the balance of 2010, he lived in Sydney, Australia, serving as the managing director of Cargill’s food-ingredients business in Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Ryan earned two master’s degrees: an MA in international relations and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame.
