Daniel Franklin, executive editor of The Economist and editor of The World In series and other visionary leaders from the worlds of business, technology, science and politics will share and debate their predictions for the year ahead.
Issues examined in The World in 2010 publication included: What are the biggest challenges facing Barack Obama? Will Americans implement their 2010 Iraq withdrawal timetable? Will there be a return to economic growth? Will there ever be a binding post Copenhagen agreement? Will a cure for HIV finally be found?

Daniel Franklin Executive Editor, The Economist Editor, The World in | Daniel Franklin has been Executive Editor of The Economist since June 2006, when he also became Editor-in-Chief of Economist.com. Since 2003 he has been Editor of The Economist's annual publication, "The World in..."; The World in 2009 was published in November 2008.
He joined The Economist in 1983 to write about Soviet and East European affairs. As the newspaper's Europe Editor from 1986 to 1992 he covered the great European upheavals, from the collapse of communism to the signing of the Maastricht treaty.
After a stint as Britain Editor he moved to the United States as Washington Bureau Chief, covering the first Clinton term. In 1997 he moved back to London as Editorial Director of the Economist Intelligence Unit, where he helped to transform a traditional print publisher into an online business providing continuously updated country analysis and forecasts. Daniel has been interviewed on BBC Radio 4 'Today', BBC World Service and CNN, amongst others. |
Regina Ip, Chairperson, Savantas Policy Institute | Regina Ip is a First Class Honor graduate in English of the University of Hong Kong in 1972. Her passion for learning drove her to study for three master degrees at different stages of her life: Master of Letters in Renaissance poetry at the University of Glasgow, Sloan Management Program at Stanford University and more recently a Master of Art in East Asian Studies at Stanford University, She joined the Hong Kong Government in 1975, rising to the position of Secretary for Security and resigned in 2003. On her return from further studies in the US, she established a think tank, Savantas Policy Institute, in July 2006. She was elected as Member of the Fourth Legislative Council in September 2008. She now divides her time between running her think tank and conducting policy analysis, writing her columns and undertaking various forms of non-paid public service.

David Eldon Former Chairman, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited
| David Eldon is former chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He retired in May 2005, after spending 37 years with HSBC Group. He is now the senior adviser of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is also senior independent non-executive director of the Noble Group, chairman of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and sits a number of other boards and government appointments, including special adviser to the South Korean Presidential Committee on National Competitiveness.

Andrew Brandler Chief Executive Officer, CLP Holdings Ltd | Andrew Brandler joined CLP as Chief Executive Officer in May 2000 and has been instrumental in overseeing CLP’s expansion in a sustainable manner.
Prior to joining CLP, Andrew has had an extensive career as a banker in the energy and utility sector in North America, Europe and Asia. His experience covers power sector deregulation in the United States during the 1980s and the UK electricity industry privatization and deregulation in the early 1990s. Immediately prior to joining CLP, Mr. Brandler was Head of Asia-Pacific Corporate Finance at Schroders, the UK investment bank, based in Hong Kong.
Mr. Brandler has an MA from Cambridge University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and is a Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He was selected the Best CEO in Hong Kong by the Best Managed Companies Poll 2004 of Asiamoney. IR Magazine also named Mr. Brandler as the Best Investor Relations by a CEO in 2006.
Along with Mr. Yvo de Boer of KPMG, Mr. Michael Morris of AEP, Mr. Jorma Ollila of Shell, Mr. Brandler is a co-chair of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Energy and Climate Focus Area Work Group.

Andrew Cayley International Co-prosecutor, Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials | Andrew T. Cayley was appointed as International Prosecutor on 27 November 2009 at the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials, ECCC. Mr. Cayley is an English barrister and writer who has spent the last sixteen years as counsel in some of the most complex and serious international criminal trials to be conducted since the Second World War. He is currently the International Prosecutor of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge Tribunal is a United Nations assisted national court charged with prosecuting those most responsible for the deaths of over two million people during the Khmer Rouge period. A former British army officer, educated at University College London and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he has prosecuted and defended in international criminal cases including prosecuting those responsible for the murder of over ten thousand men and boys in Srebrenica in Bosnia Herzegovina in July 1995. In the Srebrenica case the prosecuting team secured the first conviction for genocide in Europe since the Nuremberg trials. Andrew Cayley also led the International Criminal Court’s investigation and first prosecution case for events in Darfur between 2002 and 2004. He has worked widely in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia and lectures extensively on international humanitarian law and the rule of law.

Gregory Burns, MFA Artist, Athlete & speaker | Gregory Burns is an internationally acclaimed platform speaker, athlete and artist. Gregory competed in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Paralympic Games as a member of the USA Disabled Swim Team, capturing numerous medals while breaking five world records. Retiring from competitive swimming, he went on to complete the Korea IronMan race in 2006 and the Singapore Half-IronMan events in 2007 and 2010.
Gregory holds an MFA in painting and has exhibited in a seventeen countries throughout Asia, Europe and America for over twenty years. He has backpacked and painted extensively in 30 countries while his paintings hang in the collections of The Banyan Tree Resorts, BHP Billiton, Proctor & Gamble and Bill & Hillary Clinton. Since 1999, he and his photographer wife Angie have been featured as artists-in-residence at fifteen hotel-resorts across Asia.
Gregory has published two books in English and Mandarin and writes on the arts, sports and travel. He is widely quoted in the media and has been featured on TV programs in California, China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong. Gregory has shared his enthusiastic, highly energized and varied presentations with clients such as Reuters, McKinsey, Marriott, HP, Standard Chartered Bank and the Singapore Olympic Academy.

Kenji Williams Creative Director & Composer | Kenji Williams is an award winning filmmaker, music producer, theatrical show director, and classically-trained violinist. A world bridger of music, visual arts, science and unique storytelling, Williams is bringing his solo work from big music festivals around the world, to events involving top government officials, ,mainstream television, and film soundtracks. With over 39 years of music experience, in performance, composition and production, and 18 years of film production experience, his current live multimedia project, ‘BELLA GAIA’, involves collaborating with institutions such as NASA, The Smithsonian, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
